Renewals
Residence Permit Renewal in Spain
Renewing on time protects everything you have built in Spain. We check that you still meet the requirements, prepare the renewal, and take care of the new TIE card afterwards.

What it is
Most residence authorisations in Spain are temporary and must be renewed while you still meet the conditions under which they were granted. Each type of permit has its own renewal requirements: income, employment, insurance, enrolment or family ties.
Renewals can usually be filed in a window before your authorisation expires and, in some cases, for a limited period afterwards, which may carry a penalty. Once the renewal is approved, you also need a new TIE card. After five years of legal residence, many people can apply for long-term residence instead.
Who it is for
- Holders of non-lucrative, digital nomad, work, self-employed or family authorisations.
- Students extending their stay.
- Residents approaching five years who want long-term residence.
- People whose authorisation has recently expired.
Documents usually needed
- Passport and current TIE.
- Renewal application form for your type of authorisation.
- Evidence that you still meet the requirements (income, employment, health insurance, enrolment).
- Proof of payment of the official fee.
- Updated padrón certificate, where required.
The list depends on your type of authorisation and personal circumstances. We review your case first.
How we handle it
- Dates and requirements. We check your expiry date and whether you still meet the requirements, or whether another route suits you better.
- Renewal file. We prepare the forms and evidence and file the renewal.
- Follow-up. We monitor the procedure and answer any request for additional documents.
- New TIE. After approval, we book the fingerprint and collection appointments for your new card.
Timeframes
Resolution times vary by province and type of permit. In many cases, filing on time allows you to stay legally while the renewal is decided.
Price
From 300 € + VAT for the renewal, with the new TIE card included. Long-term residence after five years: from 300 € + VAT. Official fees are separate.
Frequently asked questions
When should I start my renewal?
As soon as the renewal window opens before expiry. Starting early leaves time to fix any missing document.
My permit has already expired. Is it too late?
Not necessarily. There may still be a short period to file, sometimes with a penalty. Contact us straight away.
Can I travel while my renewal is pending?
It depends on your documents. Ask us before travelling, as re-entry can be complicated.
Can I switch to another type of permit?
Sometimes it makes more sense to change route than to renew. We look at this in the first review.
